TAFE Ultimo: Façade Repairs and Painting on Rope Access

The building

The challenge

The façade needed a full maintenance program: cleaning, repairs and a repaint across every elevation. New anchor points were part of the scope, and the campus stayed in use for most of the job, so the work had to be planned around classes.

We split the program by noise. Painting, which is quiet, ran during semester. The concrete repairs, which needed jackhammers, were scheduled for the TAFE holidays.

What we did

1. Anchor points

We installed new anchor points to give safe rope access across the façade.

2. Pressure washing

The façade was washed down to remove dirt and loose material before repairs.

3. Façade repairs

Our technicians repaired defects across the elevations during the holiday period, so the surface was sound before coating.

4. Painting

The façade was then painted, elevation by elevation, by our rope access painters.

Result

The full façade program was delivered by one contractor from a single access approach, without separate trades setting up access for each stage, and the painting carries a 5-year warranty.
