Location: Wollongong, NSW
Building: four-storey apartment building with shops at street level
Scope: exterior repaint, changing the façade from orange to a light colour
Access: industrial rope access

Wollongong apartment building after the rope access repaint

The building

A four-storey apartment building in Wollongong, with balconies on the upper floors and a row of shops under an awning at street level. Before the job, the façade was painted orange.

The challenge

The whole exterior was to be repainted in a lighter colour. The façade rises straight above the shopfronts and the footpath. Working on ropes from above meant no scaffold standing on the footpath in front of the shops.

What we did

Our technicians worked the façade on ropes from the top down, one drop at a time. The new colour went on in vertical bands, so the progress is easy to see in the photos below.

Result

The exterior was repainted from top to bottom by rope access, changing the building from orange to a light, neutral colour.
