Mosman: More Than 130 Timber Windows Restored and Painted
The building
A brick apartment building in Mosman with timber-framed windows on every floor, many of them looking over the harbour.
The challenge
More than 130 timber windows needed restoring and painting on both faces. The outside faces sit on brick elevations several floors above gardens. The inside faces are in people’s homes, so that part of the work was organised unit by unit.
What we did
1. Internal faces
Inside each unit, the timber frames, sashes and sills were prepared and repainted.

2. External faces by rope access
The outside of each window was painted from ropes, without scaffolding on the brick elevations.

Result
More than 130 timber windows were restored and painted on both faces. The first pair of photos in step 1 shows the same window during and after the work.
